The Role of the Principal's Leadership Style in Improving the Quality of Education at SMA Negeri 1 Ledo

Schools located in border areas and with geographical limitations often face challenges in maintaining the quality of education. This study aims to describe the leadership role of school principals in improving the quality of education at SMA Negeri 1 Ledo, Bengkayang Regency, West Kalimantan. This study uses a qualitative case study approach with data collection through interviews, observations, and documentation studies on eight participants consisting of principals, teachers, administrative staff, and students. The results of the study show that school principals carry out seven leadership roles, namely as educators, managers, administrators, supervisors, leaders, innovators, and motivators. The seven roles are implemented in an integrated manner and support each other in the implementation of education. The implementation of the leadership role contributes to improving teacher competence, the quality of the learning process, student discipline, the use of learning technology, and student achievement. This study concludes that effective and integrated leadership of school principals is able to contribute to improving the quality of education, including in schools that have limited resources.
