Employing a qualitative research methodology, the study analyzes data collected through social media observation and interviews with millennial Muslims. Findings reveal that ‘flexing’ can have detrimental effects on religious life, including fostering excessive materialism, eroding integrity and honesty, and hindering the fulfillment of Islamic obligations such as Zakat and charitable giving. Furthermore, the study demonstrates that "flexing" contributes to social issues such as excessive consumerism, social inequality, a decline in empathy and concern for others, and potential mental health issues arising from social comparison and insecurity. The study concludes that while ‘flexing’ may be perceived differently by individuals, its potential negative impacts on religious values and social cohesion warrant critical consideration.
Abdul Rachman, Bilaly Sangare, Didi Suardi, Nur Jamaludin, Martavevi Azwar, Aisyah Defy R. Focusing on Muhammadiyah's fatwas, this research aims to understand how a neuro-religious approach can support the implementation of moderation principles in religious practices. Through a qualitative analysis of relevant literature, this study finds that Muhammadiyah's fatwas during the pandemic emphasized the importance of balance between faith and reason in addressing public health challenges. Neuroscience provides a scientific foundation for understanding how the human brain processes religious information and how moderation can be promoted through cognitive mechanisms. The results show that Muhammadiyah's fatwas not only provide practical guidance for worship during the pandemic but also encourage the development of a moderate attitude rooted in a deeper understanding of Islamic teachings. This study concludes that the integration of neuroscience and Islamic studies can contribute to the development of a more comprehensive framework for promoting religious moderation in the future.
Waharjani Waharjani, Mohammad Jailani ##submission.copyrightStatement## http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc/4.0 https://journal.unimma.ac.id/index.php/cakrawala/article/view/10488 Mon, 30 Dec 2024 00:00:00 +0000 Moneylender Free Village: A Case Study of Fostering Social Piety in the Cikuasa Community, Cilegon City, Indonesia https://journal.unimma.ac.id/index.php/cakrawala/article/view/10836
This study investigates the Moneylender Free Village (MFV) program within the Cikuasa community, Cilegon City, Indonesia, examining its role in fostering Islamic economic principles and social piety. Through qualitative descriptive research involving interviews with 20 purposively selected respondents, this study explores the negative impacts of loan shark practices on the community, the formation and implementation of the MFV program with the guidance of NGOs and Islamic banking, and the subsequent empowerment of social piety among community members. Findings reveal that the MFV program effectively mitigates the detrimental effects of loan sharks, fostering economic stability and social well-being. Furthermore, the study demonstrates how the program contributes to the enhancement of social piety through increased awareness of Allah's supervision, the cultivation of ihsan (excellence in worship and conduct), and the promotion of beneficial social interactions within the community.
Muhlisin Muhlisin, Titin Sahrowiyah, Aulia Raziva Maharani, Haliza Mauzaniah ##submission.copyrightStatement## http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc/4.0 https://journal.unimma.ac.id/index.php/cakrawala/article/view/10836 Mon, 30 Dec 2024 00:00:00 +0000 Gender Parity in Riba Literacy: A Comparative Study Among Residents of Sebukar Village https://journal.unimma.ac.id/index.php/cakrawala/article/view/11173
This study investigates the comparative levels of Riba literacy among male and female residents of Sebukar Village. Employing a quantitative approach, the research utilizes a questionnaire survey administered to 50 males and 50 females. Data analysis is conducted using the Mann-Whitney test to assess significant differences in Riba literacy between genders. Findings reveal no statistically significant disparity in Riba literacy levels between male and female respondents. This research contributes to the existing literature by demonstrating that gender does not appear to be a determining factor in Riba literacy within the specific context of Sebukar Village.
Eza Amanda, Muhammad Fauzi, Mursal Mursal ##submission.copyrightStatement## http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc/4.0 https://journal.unimma.ac.id/index.php/cakrawala/article/view/11173 Mon, 30 Dec 2024 00:00:00 +0000 Syumuliyah of Islam: A Framework for Achieving SDG 3 (Good Health and Well-being) https://journal.unimma.ac.id/index.php/cakrawala/article/view/11424
The 2030 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly Goal 3: Good Health and Well-being, emphasize the importance of healthy living and well-being for all. This study explores the Islamic concept of Syumuliyah – the holistic and comprehensive nature of Islamic teachings – as a potential framework for achieving this critical SDG. Through a qualitative library research approach, this study examines how Islamic principles, including those related to health, hygiene, and spiritual well-being, can contribute to the realization of SDG 3. Findings indicate that Islamic teachings offer a comprehensive approach to health, encompassing physical, mental, and spiritual dimensions. Key elements include the importance of cleanliness, proper nutrition, physical activity, and spiritual practices such as prayer and reflection. Notably, medical education can be traced back to the verses of the Qur'an and the Sunnah of the Prophet Muhammad (SAW), emphasizing the importance of preventive healthcare and holistic well-being. By embracing the Syumuliyah of Islam, individuals and communities can cultivate healthier lifestyles and contribute to the overall well-being of society, thereby advancing the objectives of SDG 3.
Ahmad Havid Jakiyudin, Hardianti Hardianti ##submission.copyrightStatement## http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc/4.0 https://journal.unimma.ac.id/index.php/cakrawala/article/view/11424 Mon, 30 Dec 2024 00:00:00 +0000
