The dates displayed for an article provide information on when various publication milestones were reached at the journal that has published the article. Where applicable, activities on preceding journals at which the article was previously under consideration are not shown (for instance, submission, revisions, rejection).

JHNS displays the publication milestones as an article journey that includes:

  • Submitted: The date the article was originally submitted to the journal.
  • Revised: The date of the most recent revision of the article was submitted to the journal. Dates corresponding to intermediate revisions are not shown.
  • Accepted: The date the article was accepted for publication in the journal.
  • Online first: The date a version of the article was made available online in the journal.

The milestone is displayed in the upper right corner of the published article, as in the example below.
