Pendampingan Penelitian Berbasis Artificial Intelligence: Eksplorasi Peluang dan Tantangan Metodologis dalam Penelitian Akademik Mahasiswa
Abstrak
Perkembangan pesat Artificial Intelligence (AI) telah mengubah cara mahasiswa melaksanakan penelitian akademik, mulai dari pencarian literatur hingga penyusunan metodologi penelitian. Meskipun AI menawarkan berbagai kemudahan, masih terbatas penelitian yang mengeksplorasi bagaimana penggunaan AI memengaruhi pemahaman metodologis mahasiswa selama proses penelitian akademik. Penelitian ini bertujuan mengeksplorasi peluang serta tantangan metodologis dalam penggunaan AI sebagai pendamping penelitian di kalangan mahasiswa perguruan tinggi. Penelitian menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif deskriptif dengan melibatkan 22 mahasiswa, terdiri atas 15 mahasiswa sarjana dan 7 mahasiswa pascasarjana, yang sedang menyusun proposal penelitian, skripsi, tesis, atau artikel ilmiah. Data dikumpulkan melalui wawancara semi-terstruktur dan analisis dokumen, kemudian dianalisis menggunakan Thematic Analysis. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa AI berkontribusi dalam meningkatkan efisiensi pencarian literatur, penyusunan metodologi penelitian, pengembangan ide penelitian, serta perbaikan kualitas penulisan akademik. Namun demikian, penelitian juga menemukan berbagai tantangan berupa validitas referensi yang dihasilkan AI, inkonsistensi rekomendasi metodologi, serta kecenderungan sebagian mahasiswa bergantung pada AI tanpa melakukan verifikasi terhadap sumber ilmiah primer. Temuan ini menunjukkan bahwa AI lebih tepat diposisikan sebagai research assistant daripada pengganti proses penalaran ilmiah mahasiswa. Penelitian ini memberikan implikasi bagi pengembangan pembelajaran metodologi penelitian serta penyusunan kebijakan pemanfaatan AI yang etis dan bertanggung jawab di perguruan tinggi.
