Generative AI Policy
BLASTAL recognises that generative AI tools (for example large language models) can assist with writing and analysis. The following rules apply to all participants.
Authors
- AI tools cannot be listed as an author and cannot take responsibility for the work. Authors remain fully accountable for the accuracy, originality, and integrity of the whole manuscript, including any AI-assisted content.
- Use of generative AI for drafting, translating, or editing text must be disclosed in the Acknowledgment section, naming the tool and its purpose. Basic spelling and grammar checking does not need to be disclosed.
- Authors must not use AI to fabricate or manipulate data, legal sources, citations, or quotations. All legal authorities, regulations, case citations, and references must be verified against the original source.
- AI-generated images or figures are not accepted unless the use is disclosed and the editors have approved it.
Reviewers and editors
- Manuscripts are confidential. Reviewers and editors must not upload a manuscript, any part of it, or a review report to a public AI tool.
- Reviewers must not use AI to write the review itself. Reviewers are responsible for the content of their reports.
Misuse is handled under the Publication Ethics and Malpractice Statement and the Retraction, Withdrawal, and Correction Policy.
