Abstract

The purpose of this research is to increase interest and learning outcomes through the Problem Based Learning (PBL) model on the material of Indonesian cultural diversity. This type of research is Classroom Action Research (PTK) which is conducted in 2 cycles with four phases namely planning, action, observation and reflection. Data collection methods namely tests, questionnaires, and observations. The results showed that the interest in learning from the pre-cycle, cycle I, and cycle II increased as seen from the pre-cycle with an average of 32.5% in the less category, in cycle I with an average of 58.5% in the sufficient category, and in the cycle II with an average of 71.30% in the high category. The increase in student learning outcomes can be seen from the test results in the pre-cycle with an average of 58.44 in the less category, in the first cycle student learning outcomes increase with an average of 76.89 in the good category, and in cycle II it continues to increase with the average value of 83.78 is in the very good category. It can be concluded that the application of the problem based learning model can increase the interest and learning outcomes of science students in class IV SD Kanisius Kintelan I.
