Statement

Automotive Experiences (AE) is a peer-reviewed, open-access journal published by Universitas Muhammadiyah Magelang. The journal is committed to maintaining the highest standards of publication ethics, research integrity, transparency, accountability, and professional conduct throughout the publication process. This policy applies to all participants involved in scholarly publishing, including authors, reviewers, editors, editorial board members, and the publisher. Automotive Experiences adopts the Regulation of the Rector of Universitas Muhammadiyah Magelang Number 169/PRN/II.3.AU/F/2022 on the Governance of Scientific Journals, follows the principles of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) Core Practices, and supports the implementation of the Regulation of the Minister of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology of the Republic of Indonesia Number 39 of 2021 concerning Academic Integrity in Producing Scholarly Works. As a journal dedicated to advancing automotive engineering, transportation systems, and sustainable mobility, Automotive Experiences promotes responsible research, fair peer review, ethical publishing, and trustworthy scientific communication.

Academic Integrity Principles

Automotive Experiences promotes academic integrity as the foundation of scholarly communication. In accordance with national regulations and institutional policies, all participants involved in the publication process are expected to uphold the following values:

These principles guide ethical decision-making and support the development of a responsible academic culture.

Research Integrity and Publication Misconduct

Automotive Experiences is committed to safeguarding the integrity of the scholarly record. In accordance with national regulations and international publication ethics standards, publication misconduct includes, but is not limited to:

Fabrication of research data or information.
Falsification or manipulation of research data, methods, or findings.
Plagiarism and self-plagiarism.
Improper authorship practices.
Undisclosed conflicts of interest.
Multiple, redundant, or simultaneous submissions.
Image manipulation that misrepresents research findings.
Citation manipulation.
Peer-review manipulation.
Misrepresentation of ethical approvals, research procedures, or results.

Suspected cases of misconduct will be evaluated fairly, confidentially, and transparently in accordance with COPE recommendations and applicable institutional policies.

Depending on the severity of the case, the journal may take actions including:

Requesting clarification from authors.
Rejecting manuscripts.
Publishing corrections.
Issuing an editorial expression of concern.
Retracting published articles.
Informing relevant institutions, funding agencies, or authorities when necessary.

Complaints and Appeals

Automotive Experiences provides a mechanism for handling complaints and appeals related to:

Editorial decisions.
Peer-review processes.
Publication delays.
Alleged conflicts of interest.
Citation manipulation.
Alleged publication misconduct.
Editorial or reviewer conduct.

All complaints and appeals will be handled fairly, confidentially, transparently, and in accordance with COPE recommendations.

Ethical Oversight

Authors are responsible for ensuring that their research complies with applicable ethical, legal, and professional standards. Where applicable, authors must provide evidence of:

Ethical approval for research involving human participants.
Informed consent from research participants.
Compliance with animal welfare regulations.
Permission to use copyrighted materials, datasets, images, or third-party content.
Appropriate management of confidential or sensitive data.

The journal may request supporting documentation during the editorial process.

Data Availability and Reproducibility

Authors are encouraged to retain research data and supporting materials that underpin the findings reported in their manuscripts. The journal may request access to underlying data during editorial evaluation or investigation of ethical concerns. Authors should ensure that data are stored responsibly and made available when appropriate, subject to legal, ethical, confidentiality, or proprietary restrictions.

Authorship and Contributorship

Authorship should reflect substantial intellectual contributions to the research. Authors are expected to:

Contribute significantly to the conception, design, execution, analysis, or interpretation of the study.
Participate in drafting or critically revising the manuscript.
Approve the final version of the manuscript.
Accept responsibility for the integrity of the work.

Individuals who contributed to the research but do not meet authorship criteria should be acknowledged appropriately. The following practices are considered unethical:

Gift authorship.
Honorary authorship.
Ghost authorship.
Purchased authorship.

Any change in authorship after submission must be approved by all authors and justified to the editor.

Conflicts of Interest and Funding Transparency

Authors, editors, and reviewers must disclose any relationships or interests that could influence their judgment. Potential conflicts may include:

Financial relationships.
Research grants.
Employment or consulting arrangements.
Personal relationships.
Intellectual property interests.
Other competing interests.

Authors should clearly disclose funding sources and the role of funders in the research. If no conflicts exist, authors should state:

"The authors declare no competing interests."

Citation Integrity

Authors, reviewers, and editors should ensure that citations are relevant, accurate, and academically justified. The journal does not tolerate:

Excessive self-citation.
Coercive citation.
Citation stacking.
Citation cartels.
Any attempt to artificially influence citation metrics.

Citation practices should support scholarly communication rather than manipulate journal, author, or institutional metrics.

Responsibilities of Editors

Editors are responsible for ensuring the quality, integrity, and fairness of the editorial process.

Editors shall:

Evaluate manuscripts solely on scholarly merit and relevance to the journal.
Ensure a fair, objective, and timely peer-review process.
Maintain confidentiality throughout the editorial process.
Manage conflicts of interest appropriately.
Follow guidance when handling ethical concerns.
Publish corrections, clarifications, expressions of concern, or retractions when necessary.

Editors shall not:

Discriminate against authors based on nationality, ethnicity, gender, religion, institutional affiliation, or other personal characteristics.
Use unpublished information for personal advantage.
Allow personal, institutional, political, or commercial interests to influence editorial decisions.

Responsibilities of Authors

Authors are responsible for the originality, accuracy, and integrity of their work.

Authors shall:

Submit original and unpublished manuscripts.
Present research findings honestly and accurately.
Retain and provide supporting data when requested.
Properly acknowledge all sources used.
Obtain necessary ethical approvals and permissions.
Disclose funding sources and conflicts of interest.
Cooperate during the peer-review process.
Promptly notify the journal if significant errors are identified after publication.

Authors shall not:

Submit the same manuscript to multiple journals simultaneously.
Fabricate or falsify data.
Commit plagiarism or duplicate publication.
Manipulate citations.
Misrepresent authorship contributions.
Conceal conflicts of interest.

Responsibilities of Reviewers

Reviewers play a vital role in maintaining the quality and credibility of published research.

Reviewers shall:

Provide objective, constructive, and evidence-based evaluations.
Accept review assignments only within their area of expertise.
Complete reviews within agreed timelines.
Maintain confidentiality of manuscript materials.
Identify relevant literature that may have been overlooked.
Inform editors of potential ethical concerns.
Disclose conflicts of interest.

Reviewers shall not:

Use manuscript content for personal advantage.
Share confidential information with unauthorized parties.
Allow personal bias to influence their recommendations.
Contact authors directly regarding manuscripts under review.

Corrections, Retractions, and Post-Publication Discussions

Automotive Experiences recognizes that published research may require updates after publication. The journal may publish:

Corrections for minor errors that do not affect the validity of the findings.
Editorial notes to clarify important issues.
Expressions of concern while investigations are ongoing.
Retractions when findings are unreliable due to misconduct or major error.

Artificial Intelligence (AI) and AI-Assisted Technologies

The use of generative AI and AI-assisted technologies must comply with the journal's Generative AI Policy. Authors remain fully responsible for all submitted content. AI systems cannot be listed as authors and cannot assume responsibility for scholarly work.
